2009 Miss Rodeo McCracken
Rules & Regulations
The objective of this pageant is to select a young lady who possesses excellent horsemanship skills, has the ability to speak professionally to the public about rodeo and other topics, is knowledgeable on rodeo and agriculture, and will represent herself and the
McCracken Rodeo in a dignified and honorable way.
1. Each queen contestant must not be less than 15 or more than 23 years of age by the date of the contest.
2. The contestant must be a Kansas resident.
3. Contestant must be single and never been married.
4. Contestant may not have ever been pregnant.
5. A contestant is allowed to compete as many times as she wishes so long as she has not won the Miss Rodeo McCracken title previously.
6. Contestant shall waiver liability.
7. Contestant must agree to abide by pageant rules with the possibility of disqualification for infractions.
8. If a winning contestant becomes pregnant during her reign she shall forfeit her crown and all benefits derived from the pageant. She must also agree not to marry during her reign. If she would decide to do so the title will go to the 1st Runner-up, she will also forfeit all prizes won at the pageant.
Rules & Regulations:
1. Contestants must conduct themselves in a proper lady-like manner and portray high morale standards. Contestants will not be permitted to drink alcoholic beverages, smoke or use of tobacco or foul language at any time during the pageant.
2. Each contestant is required to submit the non-refundable $40.00 entry fee with her application. This should be made payable to the McCracken Rodeo Committee.
3. Each contestant will be required to supply the pageant with a photo. The photo should be a head and shoulder shot in full western attire, including a hat. The photo will be used for publicity and not be returned.
4. Contestants must sign wavier agreement and release of liability forms and complete an application form upon entering the Miss Rodeo McCracken Pageant by July 1, 2009.
5. Contestants will be required to follow wardrobe guidelines: Long sleeve shirts, jeans, slacks or long skirts, boots and hats during the rodeo performances and during competition on Saturday.
6. Contestants will be required to give a 2-minute speech. No props will be permitted. The speech topic is anything with a Western theme.
7. Each contestant will be required to model one western-type outfit (a skirt, dress, pants, or jeans); boots and hat are mandatory. An introduction and summary will be read about her while she models. Also, she will be required to answer an impromptu question.
8. Contestants will have a personal interview. She should study rodeo and current event information. Interviews will be no longer than 10 minutes.
9. Contestants will be required to ride one horsemanship pattern. Each contestant will be required to provide their own horse and equipment for the grand entry and the horsemanship competition.
10. Scores will not be handed out at the end of the contest.
11. Each contestant is expected to be at the Friday evening performance to be introduced.
12. Each contestant is to display the highest degree of sportsmanship during the pageant and following the coronation. Each contestant should be mindful that she is representing her hometown, the Miss Rodeo McCracken pageant and the sport of rodeo. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. It could result in the contestant being disqualified.
13. Awards will be presented to the queen, including a traveling tiara, sash and belt buckle. A first and second runner-up will be awarded.
14. The newly-crowned queen will be expected to help plan, obtain sponsorships and prizes for, and coordinate the following years’ pageant.
15. The newly-crowned queen will also be expected to attend a minimum of 5 rodeos and make a minimum of 5 appearances throughout her reign.
16. Be sure to read all rules and regulations and make sure you understand everything before you enter the pageant. If not, be sure and call someone who can answer your questions.
